JCC Day Camps has been serving the community for 96 years. The J's vibrant Jewish day camp provides children and young adults with an enriching summer experience that combines recreational activities, Jewish values, and personal growth in a warm, inclusive environment. Position Overview JCC Day Camps is seeking an Assistant Camp Director to be a key leader in our full-time summer camp program while providing limited part-time support (8 hours per month) from September through May . This is a perfect opportunity for a teacher or educator looking for an exciting and rewarding summer leadership role while maintaining a flexible, low-commitment schedule during the school year. The Assistant Camp Director will work closely with the Senior Director to ensure smooth daily operations, create a positive and engaging environment for campers and staff, and assist with year-round planning. Key Responsibilities Summer (Full-Time, June-August) Support the Camp Director in overall program planning, implementation, and evaluation. Assist in staff training, supervision, and professional development. Oversee daily camp operations, including scheduling, activity coordination, and problem-solving. Foster a safe, nurturing, and fun camp environment that reflects Jewish values and traditions. Manage parent communications and address concerns promptly and professionally. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, licensing, and accreditation guidelines and requirements. Participate in emergency response planning and implementation. Assist in budget management and resource allocation. Off-Season (Part-Time, 8 Hours/Month, September-May) Assist in developing and enhancing summer camp programming to provide an exceptional experience for both campers and staff. Support camper recruitment efforts. Participate in planning meetings. Collaborate with The J’s Kids & Families team to integrate camp into year-round family engagement initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred or 5 years relevant experience Experience working in camp, youth programs, education, or related fields. Strong leadership skills with a passion for working with children, teens, and young adults. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to work full-time during the summer and commit to 8 hours per month from September through May. Physical ability to participate in camp activities and respond to emergencies.
