Senior Back End Developer

Lifeguard Digital Health is a firm that is focused on developing lifesaving digital health innovations (SaaS/SaMD) to support public health challenges. Our goal is to assist in crises, prevent unintentional deaths where possible and reduce harm for people across all demographics. We have successfully pioneered mobile applications in response to the opioid crisis and have launched IoT enabled customized digital solutions for senior living facilities and supportive housing settings. Our products provide emergency support for people in crisis, by connecting them to relevant resources and directing them to health support services. We are on the leading edge of research, development, and implementation of digital solutions that address varied public health challenges via our research arm – LifeguardLabs and are actively engaged in applied research supported by grants. Responsibilities · Develop, maintain, and optimize front-end and back-end applications using PHP (Laravel). · Design and manage MySQL databases for high-performance applications. · Manage and deploy applications on Linux servers and AWS environments. · Write clean, efficient, and scalable server-side logic and APIs. · Design systems that integrate seamlessly with mobile devices and embedded hardware. · Work with agile development methodologies, managing tasks in Jira and Bitbucket (Git). · Implement security best practices for authentication, authorization, and data protection. · Troubleshoot and optimize system performance to ensure reliability and scalability. Requirements · 5 years of experience as a Back-End Developer with a bachelor degree in computer science or related fields. · Expertise in PHP (Laravel) and MySQL. · Strong knowledge of Linux server administration and AWS environments. · Proficiency in at least three of the following languages: PHP, C, C++, JavaScript, TypeScript, Swift or Kotlin. · Experience in system design, especially with mobile devices and embedded systems. · Familiarity with Jira and Bitbucket for agile development and version control. · Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, system architecture, and security best practices. Nice to Have · Experience with mobile development (Android Studio, Xcode, React Native or Flutter). · Experience with other back-end frameworks (Next.js, Go, etc.). · Experience with RTOS such as Zephyr. · Experience with CI/CD pipelines and workflows. · Experience with real-time communication systems (WebSockets, MQTT, etc.). Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000 per annum
