Grades, standardized test scores, essays, recommendations, independent work, the quality of the secondary school program and achievements outside the classroom are among the factors used to evaluate this promise, but no one of these measures is considered determinative. Responsibilities: We seek to fill multiple openings for Regional Assistant Director/Senior Assistant Director, in the Office of Undergraduate Admission. Regionally based Assistant Directors/Senior Assistant Directors of Admission are responsible for the following: Read and evaluate applications for admission. Serve as voting members of the Board of Admission during the selection process and may read for regions outside of their primary territory. Develop year-round regional recruitment strategies, with primary focus on outreach in their assigned territory. Conduct Brown-focused and college planning information sessions for prospective students and families. Represent the university at schools, community based organizations, spring college nights, and college fairs year round. Coordinate with local alumni to develop recruitment and matriculation efforts and events Plan and assist with Providence-based projects pertaining to recruitment, evaluation and matriculation of students. The successful candidate must reside in one of the following regions: Los Angeles CA, San Francisco CA, Washington DC/MD/VA, Miami FL, Atlanta GA, Chicago IL, New York, NY, Detroit MI, Philadelphia PA, or Houston TX. The candidate's qualifications/experience will determine if the position is filled at the Assistant Director or Senior Assistant Director level. Qualifications: Senior Assistant Director Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree 6 years of college admission experience, preferably at a highly selective institution Assistant Director Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree 4 years of college admission experience, preferably at a highly selective institution Job Competencies Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong writing and public speaking skills Sensitivity to concerns of people of different ages and backgrounds Willingness and ability to work both independently and with groups Creativity, efficiency, flexibility, open-mindedness, good judgment Ability to work long hours, including events and weekends Ability to travel Attention to detail and strong organizational skills First-hand knowledge of major issues facing American colleges and universities Driver's license Understanding of Brown and its academic standards Capacity to relate easily and appropriately with a broad range of people Understanding of public relations and social media Salary Grade: 10 Additional Information: All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
