Interns may provide support for day to day administration as well as special projects and events. Spanish language skills are a plus High School and College students may apply Requires the physical mobility to sit or walk for moderate periods of time and to occasionally carry or lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds. Must provide own laptop. Each role with LaAmistad is part of a strong team. To support the team, you will likely be required to walk quickly across varying distances on our campuses, lift and carry supplies and other materials, push heavy rolling carts, and climb multiple flights of stairs as well as have adequate hearing and vision to successfully navigate the requirements of the position. Responsibilities Assists in preparing, teaching, and evaluating assigned instructional courses Develops supplemental teaching material and strategies to help students practice Support the Afterschool Teacher with on-site programming needs Assists the staff with all communication to and from the parents in English and Spanish Requires the physical mobility to sit or walk for moderate periods of time and to occasionally carry or lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds. Supports the collection and input of data for all programs Effectively responds to stakeholder inquiries, questions, and comments Prepares and distributes program documentation and details Creates and/or updates class syllabi or other communications as needed Performs other relevant duties as assigned Requires the physical mobility to sit or walk for moderate periods of time and to occasionally carry or lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds Qualifications Bilingual native Spanish speaker preferred Fluencyin Spanish and English (writing, listening, and speaking) Experience with parent coaching is preferred Knowledge and understanding of issues and dynamics within diverse families Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as during parent/or community events Experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Word/Excel/PowerPoint Must have own transportation and hold a valid drivers license Commitment to the programs goals and mission Desired Skills and Attributes Ability to confidently lead a group of adults or children Strong organizational skills along with a sense for detail and follow-up Solution-orientated and able to problem-solve Excellence in communicating with diverse audiences Ability to work collaboratively and independently Ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines Proficiency troubleshooting common issues with Chromebook platform Sponsorship is not available for this position. Marketing and Communications Interns: The Social Media Intern will work at LaAmistad at various LaAmistad Afterschool locations and at designated events and activities as identified by the Communications Manager. Responsibilities TheSocial MediaIntern willassistwith all aspects of executing digital communications and publicrelations for all development and programming operations related toLaAmistadunder the direction of theCommunications Manager. This would include working oncontent creation, digital fundraising,andsocialmedia.Candidates will be expected to work about 10-15 hours per week asneeded. These hours are flexible but willoccurbetween Monday-Friday between 10:00 am 6:00 pm, butwill be primarily needed from 3-6 for Afterschool programming. Create and updatecontent calendar Assist with developing social media materials Lots of brainstorming Write news and feature stories Manage and organize file library Research and develop social media content Interview and capture stories from students, volunteers, and relevant parties Requires the physical mobility to sit or walk for moderate periods of time and to daily carry or lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
