Head Camp Counselor – 2025 Summer Camp

As a Head Camp Counselor, you’ll take the lead in creating a fun, engaging, and safe environment for campers of all ages. If you're passionate about working with kids, have a knack for leadership, and are ready for a rewarding summer experience, this job is for you!
Responsibilities:
- Lead and plan a variety of age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, and nature exploration.
- Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all campers in your care.
- Supervise campers during meals, rest periods, and transitions between activities, maintaining a positive atmosphere.
- Cultivate an inclusive, supportive environment where campers can thrive, build friendships, and have fun.
- Guide campers in developing key life skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
- Implement and support behavior management strategies to ensure all campers have a positive camp experience.
- Collaborate with fellow counselors and camp leadership to ensure a smooth, organized program throughout the summer.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children (camp, daycare, or educational setting preferred).
- Strong knowledge of child development and the ability to adapt to individual needs.
- Excellent communication skills with children, parents, and fellow staff members.
- Well-organized with strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility and problem-solving skills to handle a variety of situations.

Job Type: Temporary (Summer 2025)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:15am-4:15pm for the following weeks (all weeks not required):
June 23rd-27th
June 30th-July 3rd
July 7th-11th
July 14th-18th
July 21st-25th
July 28th-August 1st
August 4th-8th
August 11th-15th
August 18th-22nd
August 25th-29th
Compensation:
$20 - $25 per hour, based on experience

- Experience with Children: Previous experience working with children in a camp, educational, or recreational setting (teachers, coaches, and youth leaders encouraged to apply).
- Strong Leadership Skills: Ability to lead by example, inspire confidence, and foster a positive, inclusive environment for all campers.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage children, interact effectively with parents/guardians, and collaborate with fellow staff members.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated ability to handle challenging situations calmly and effectively, with a focus on conflict resolution and creating a positive camp experience.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to plan, manage time, and coordinate activities efficiently to ensure a well-structured day for campers.
- CPR/First Aid Certification: (Preferred but not required) Ability to remain calm in emergency situations and provide basic first aid if necessary.
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old by the start of the camp season.
