Summary of Job

Under the guidance of the Recreation Director and Recreation Supervisor, the Pool Manager is responsible for the safe operation of Sunset Pool. This role includes staffing management, swim lesson coordination, facility management, and ensuring a high level of customer service during all pool activities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Supervise all pool operations, including free swim, swim lessons, and fitness classes.
• Develop and schedule aquatic training for staff.
• Ensure lifeguards enforce pool rules and maintain safety protocols.
• Schedule swim instructors and lifeguards for lessons and supervision.
• Perform lifeguard duties as needed.
• Maintain accurate records for all programs and staff certifications.
• Manage risk management policies and respond to inquiries or complaints.
• Oversee pool cleanliness and safety at all times.
• Maintain a professional relationship with staff and pool members.
• Manage the Sunset Pool Facebook page for updates and announcements.
• Report weekly to the Recreation Director and Supervisor.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a lifeguard, aquatic or leadership role.
• 3+ years of management/team management experience (preferred)
• Most hold or be willing to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid
• Most hold or be willing to obtain American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Typical Physical Demands:

• Ability to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aid.
• Strong visual and auditory skills for monitoring the pool area.
• Capability to act swiftly in emergency situations.

Typical Working Conditions:

• Must be available evenings and weekends.
• Flexibility in April and May; 35-40+ hours/week from June to August.
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Personal Qualities:

• Strong knowledge of lifeguarding techniques and facility management.
• Excellent leadership and customer service skills.
• Ability to create and maintain a team-oriented environment.
