Description
Under the supervision of the Recreation Superintendent, Managers are employed to supervise the aquatic's area while facilities are in use, supervise lifeguards and instructors, collect monies, and deal with patron complaints and problems. In addition, Managers are employed to perform any other assigned duties when not actively serving in the role as a Manager. Work requires flexible hours (weekends, mornings, and evenings). Performs other work as required.

Description

Examples of Duties
- Inspects Pool and surrounding area periodically each day for safety and cleanliness of the facility.
- Takes hourly chemical readings of the pool water.
- Responds to public inquiries.
- Collects admission fee and makes change where needed.
- Clean filters, deck, restrooms, and vacuum pools.
- Receives citizen complaints and inquires and recommends appropriate action.
- Ensures that safety regulations and standards are followed.
- Enforce rules and regulations and department policy.
- Trains and supervises lifeguards to follow pool policies and procedures.
- Create lifeguard schedules for 3 city pools.
- Removes public from the pool who are causing disturbances or not following safety regulations and pool rules.
- Monitor & evaluate lifeguards & swim instructors to ensure patron safety.
Minimum Qualifications
- Three (3) months (one full season) experience as a lifeguard or swim instructor.
- Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
- Must be able to swim 100 yards (4 lengths of the pool) continuously, tread water for 2 minutes (no hands), and retrieve a 10 pound object from a depth of six feet and swim/walk it back to the starting point 20 yards away within 50 seconds.
- Valid State of Florida Driver's License. Applicants who have a valid out of state license must obtain a Florida license within ten (10) days of employment.
- Must have a working cell phone number and email address for contact purposes.
- Must possess current or obtain certification in Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, AED within 1 month of employment and must maintain certification throughout employment.
- Possession of an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to use chemical labels as they relate to pools.
- Ability to communicate with the public.
- Ability to perform First Aid, and CPR techniques as taught by the Red Cross.
- Ability to respond to calmly and effectively to emergency situations.
- Ability to make monetary change.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Ability to hear.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to walk, climb, lift, stoop, kneel, stand, etc.
- Ability to read and understand policies, procedures, labels, etc.
- Ability to work in hot, humid and wet environments.
- Ability to work with chemicals, around fumes, and odors.
- Ability to lift and rescue pool patrons who are in need of assistance
