THIS IS A NON-CIVIL SERVICE POSITION
POST DATE: 10/30/2024
SALARY RANGE: $15.00 - $28.80 Annually
BACKGROUND CHECK: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint screening and must be successfully completed.
PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory 6-month probation.

Baltimore Youthwork's Summer Jobs Program is one of the largest summer jobs initiatives in the nation. For the past 5 years, the goal has been to offer 8,000 City youth an opportunity to work and earn wages during the summer months. Built on the unspoken expected reality that a large percentage of black and brown youth would have unequal access to a summer job because of structural and institutional racism, Youthworks prioritizes those most impacted - youth receiving public assistance, low wage families and youth connected to the Department of Juvenile Service.
POSITION OVERVIEW
This is a customer development position, which is an approach to working with young people between the ages of 16 to 21 years of age defines goals (outcomes) based on capacity, strengths and developmental needs of Youthworks Private Sector (YWPS) participants. Work involves assisting Youthworks Private Sector participants with retention skills, placement coordination and follow-up after placement. Job Coaches will be assigned to each hiring organization/ employers to answer questions and serve as a direct link to the Youthworks Private Sector program. Selected candidates will also visit the worksites to provide encouragement and support to Youthworks participants to ensure a positive work experience. And communicate with and serve as the direct liaison with the employer from the Youthworks program.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalency

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Track and input Job Posting Employer Applications into the Youthworks system
- Maintains an employer site ledger for worksite number assignment and approval
- Answer and screen incoming calls in a professional manner and direct calls to the appropriate person or transfer to the correct staff
- Support the Youthworks Private Sector Business Coordinator and the Office Support Specialist in daily functions and activities
- Operate various office equipment which include multi-line telephone system, fax machine, copiers, scanner, shredder and laptop and desktop computer
- Provide accurate information to the public regarding Youthworks and MOED programs and/or refer inquiries to the appropriate source
- Use the YW System to answer participant, worksite and staff inquires
- Conducts presentations with youth to ensure work readiness and life skills training has been completed
- Research requested information and/or issues with resolution follow-up for worksites and youth
- Support the Youthworks Private Sector in the electronic generation and collection of pay cards, and charm cards; along with tracking tools to ensure proper distribution and collection of require items
- Creating transmittals, placement and worksite reports when needed
- Create and organize materials for staff and worksite trainings
- Manage and support the attendance and presentation schedule for the Youthworks Academy
- Assists in the preparation and delivery of invoice requests based on the Job Posting Application and correspondence from the applicable employer
- Completes timesheet training with employers via virtual on in-person correspondence
- Assist in the delivery, preparation and coordination of Youthworks Private Sector job readiness and Youthworks Academy workshops with the youth either virtually or in-person
- Maintain temporary staff files i.e. payroll, time sheets and employee expense reports
- Assists in conducting presentations to young people during the Youthworks Academy and Job Readiness workshop sessions
- Organize, track verification appointments and documentation
- Assist with Youth On-Line Presentation through YouTube, Facebook and X (formerly Twitter)
- Perform other related work assignments as directed
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience as a fiscal, or agency payroll clerk
- or comparable business college course work
- Must be capable of completing computer data entry and using search functions with database search function for youth and worksites
- Advanced beginner skills in MS Office Products: Word, Excel and Google Doc
- Proficiency in various virtual communications platforms such as Webex, Zoom, Google Meets and Microsoft teams
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalency
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Access to a computer or laptop with a microphone and camera and high-speed internet capabilities
- Ability to pass a mandatory criminal background check and drug screen
- Must be flexible to work mornings and some Saturdays when directed
- Standard work schedule for this position is _8:30am_ to __4:30pm_
- Some evening and weekend hours may be required
- Based on business needs this position may be telework eligible after (90) days
- As directed by Program Manager hours may occasionally change
