CNC, Building & Grounds Maintenance Technician

Job Summary
The position performs all maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance functions for all CNC and Manual Mills & Lathes machines, building, equipment and grounds. Work includes routine inspections and repair or replacement of machines, equipment and the building’s operating system.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Repairs to shop equipment.
- CNC and Manual Mills & Lathes (i.e., chip conveyors, pumps, limit switches, chuck, controls, spindles, servo drive, servo motors, etc.).
- Manual Equipment.
- Forklifts.
- Paint Booth.
- Other support equipment.
- Schedule outside repair technicians, as needed, for complex repairs.
- Plans, schedules and implements preventative maintenance.
- Building and Grounds Maintenance.
- Assesses production schedules, to minimize downtime, for all repairs.
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses and addresses maintenance issues and requests to ensure optimal equipment performance and when necessary,
- Work with outside contractors to procure parts and services.
- Provide guidance to contractors and others regarding work required to be performed.
- Work with outside contractors/vendors with getting bids for new machines and/or improvements needed for maintenance/building and continue working with them until the project has been completed.
- Ensure complete documentation of annual inspections/certifications, regulatory requirements, service to all equipment and repairs (i.e., annual crane inspections, certifications of welders, sprinklers, alarms, EPA, etc.).
- Make regular suggestions for safety process improvements to support continuous improvement (i.e., member of the safety committee, annual review of Lock-Out Tag-Out Procedures, etc.)
- Submit requisitions to Purchasing for parts, oils, lubricants, materials, cleaning supplies, etc.
- Keep the maintenance room clean and organized.
- Create an inventory list of maintenance parts and keep up to date.
- Perform other tasks as warranted or assigned by management.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no regular supervisory responsibilities. May be required to supervise some summer help and/or Interns for maintenance and improvement projects.
Work Environment
The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions with protection from weather conditions with moderate temperature fluctuation. The employee is exposed to hazards such as metal chips, oils and cutting fluids, and proximity to moving parts which require adherence to safety procedures and use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
Physical Requirements
The employee is required to have visual acuity to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to focus. The employee will be regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with their arms. This position requires occasional squatting/kneeling, forward bending, twisting/turning, pushing/pulling, neck rotation or extension, wrist rotation or extension, forearm rotation, grasping and pinching. The employee may occasionally be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. The employee may be required to move or transfer products with an overhead crane, pallet jack and/or forklift (with license).
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Five years of experience in repair & maintenance of CNC and Manual machinery using a variety of hand tools & diagnostic equipment.
- Knowledge of CNC and Manual machines – mills and lathes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical computations including the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, addition, subtraction, division, percentages & ratios proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to communicate with both internal and external customers characterized by honest, professional, respectful communication (verbally & in writing) and effective listening skills.
- Fluency in English verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately and be self-sufficient.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
- Self-starter and ability to work well with others.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to be self-sufficient, multi-task and problem solve.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Desirable Qualifications
- Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
- Familiarity with ISO standards.
