We are currently accepting applications for a Fleet Maintenance Technician in our new, state-of-the-art trucking facility in Milton, WI, conveniently located north of Janesville. The position will work Monday – Friday from 7:30am – 4:00pm and will report to the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor.

JOB SUMMARY: Acts as the maintenance technician responsible for the repair, troubleshooting, maintenance, and preventative maintenance for the Cartage Fleet of trucks and trailers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs corrective and preventative maintenance on medium and heavy-duty vehicles and trailers.
- Troubleshoots various systems including electrical, drive train, HVAC, brake, engine, and suspension, identifies needed repairs, and performs corrective action.
- Writes up on the repair order an accurate, clear, and detailed description of the cause of failure and the repair procedure(s) used.
- Uses diagnostic equipment to detect and isolate faults in medium and heavy-duty vehicles and trailers and interprets test results.
- Reads written fault description on Repair Order and determines the most efficient repair procedure.
- Performs all work within Standard Repair Times (SRTs).
- Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
- Conducts safety checks on vehicles.
- Communicates with and provides Maintenance Supervisor with accurate and detailed repair information for inclusion on the Repair Order.
- Obtains Maintenance Supervisor and/or Cartage Managers permission to complete diagnosed repairs and/or add additional repairs to a repair.
- Monitor parts supply levels and communicate with Maintenance Supervisor to order the parts necessary to repair vehicles and trailers.
- Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Performs road test on vehicles and trailers to assist in problem isolation or to verify repair procedure.
- Tracks and charges clocked hours to the proper corresponding Repair Order operation.
- Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
- Writes up clear, accurate, and detailed repair description of each operation on the corresponding Repair Order, to include a description of the cause of failure and the correction and/or repair procedure used.
- Occasionally provide on-call coverage on weekends.
- Assists others with repair procedures as needed.
- Travel to CQC facilities, training, and/or vendors.
- Perform all tasks assigned by the supervisor, while following all company, safety, and quality policies and procedures.
- Maintain regular attendance at work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Diesel / Heavy Equipment Maintenance degree or equivalent work/training experience.
- Minimum 3 years of related work experience.
- Valid Class A - Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred and a good driving record.
- Welding experience preferred.
- Demonstrated advanced troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Interpret shop repair order forms, repair manuals, and schematics.
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Computer and keyboard basics
- Stand and walk for the entire shift.
- Speak, write, and read in English.
- Ability to perform math at an advanced level
- Work at heights above 10 feet and in extreme heat and cold
- Positive, can-do attitude and flexibility to perform a variety of tasks.

- Demonstrate range-of-motion, strength, and physical stamina needed to safely perform the job in a fast-paced work environment.
