This position is eligible for the Teacher's Retirement Board (TRB) Pension Program!

Position Summary:

The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for teaching students in the Whitney Hall School program. Teachers work in a special education environment, self-contained classroom setting, servicing grades K-12. This position will be accountable to the Principal and the Vice President of Education and will work with the entire Children's Center of Hamden staff regularly.

Work Schedule:
Work schedule is based on the school year calendar plus an additional 5-week summer program.

Requirements:

  • CT Certified Special Education Credential #165, or eligibility for Emergency Special Education Teaching Certification is required.
  • 2 years of teaching or related experience required.
  • Good interpersonal and behavioral management skills.
  • Ability to work in a special education setting with emotionally disturbed and learning-disabled children and adolescents.
  • Comprehensive and current knowledge of all subjects taught.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction across a range of grade levels.
