Job Summary:

The Direct-to-Consumer Forecasting & Planning Analyst contributes to the overall success of the organization by analyzing Burpee and Amazon plant, seed, and GM products. This role provides data-driven recommendations to maximize sales and profitability. The manager will develop forecasts, analyze sales programs, optimize inventory management, and ensure accurate reporting to support strategic decision-making and sales growth.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop and communicate sales forecasts & reforecasts for plant, seed, and GM products, ensuring timely and accurate product information is shared with relevant personnel.
  • Recommend quantities for inventory procurement, replenishment, packaging, repacking, and growing, including reforecasting bucketed inventory for plant sales by grow zone.
  • Analyze the profitability of direct marketing (DM) and Amazon products, making strategic recommendations for sales programs.
  • Work cross-functionally to prepare sales revenue and expense budgets.
  • Communicate/Simplify complex information to multiple levels of the organization, including senior leadership.
  • Offer insights into Burpee DM customer demographics, purchase behaviors, and trends.
  • Analyze year-over-year (YoY) sales, new/returning customer trends and basket composition.
  • Serve as a super user for Power BI, maintaining and enhancing reporting capabilities with visual dashboards.
  • Monitor product performance, alerting stakeholders to risk areas for over or underselling products.
  • Assist with catalog product selections, budgeting, and channel spend decisions.
  • Work with the marketing and CRM team to understand customer behavior and build forecasts to support growth strategies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of experience or proven expertise in ecommerce forecasting & analytics role, utilizing strategic thinking in data analysis, demand forecasting and assortment architecture.
  • Experience with forecasting algorithms and statistical models to deliver improved forecast accuracy.
  • In-depth understanding of marketing databases, including customer files, demographics, and transactional data.
  • Proficiency in SQL is preferred, with strong expertise in Excel and other reporting and analytics platforms.
  • Experience with business intelligence dashboarding (e.g., Power BI).
  • Proven ability to work cross-departmentally, ensuring alignment and success in multiple areas.
  • Experience in a CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) environment with a high volume of SKUs.
  • Technical aptitude with advanced Excel skills. Experience in SQL and visual dashboard tools.
  • Understanding of sales performance across marketing channels and experience with Google Analytics and Amplitude or comparable tools.
