We are looking for a Controller to join our team in the Real Estate industry, located in Portland, Maine. In this role, you will be managing our accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in our financial records, and driving process improvements.


Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department

• Process month and end year process, accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and budgeting/forecasting

• Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements

• Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions

• Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy

• Meet financial accounting objectives

• Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions

• Utilize advanced Excel skills for data analysis and financial reporting

•Utilize QuickBooks or Yardi software for efficient accounting operations

• Demonstrate leadership skills in managing the accounting team and conducting performance evaluations


Skills:

• Proficiency in General Ledger management

• Expertise in Accounting management

• Supervisory management skills

• Experience with Month End Close procedures

• Ability to drive Process Improvement

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Experience in Budgeting and Forecasting

• Knowledge of Business Entities

• Proven experience in a Controller role with 10+ years progressive accounting.

• Proficient in General Ledger operations and management.

• Demonstrated skills in Accounting management.

• Experience in Supervisory management, overseeing an accounting team.

• Ability to handle Month End Close procedures efficiently.

• Proficiency in Process Improvement to optimize accounting operations.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and financial analysis.

• Experience in Budgeting and Forecasting for business financial planning.

• Knowledge of various Business Entities and their financial implications.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Knowledge of all federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting.
