General Summary
General Summary: The Construction Laborer physically carries out assignments and makes improvements to the park system by performing a wide variety of manual labor duties included but not limited to moving dirt and rock with hand tools, helping to install park and playground equipment, and helping with form work and concrete pours, assisting with landscaping of parks, loading/unloading trucks and trailers, priming and painting.

Supplemental Information
Hours Worked: Generally, four (4) days per week - within Monday through Thursday, Ten (10) hours per day--6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Seldom required, but occasional weekend work possible.
Seasonal employees that work during BREC's Summer Program are eligible for facility privileges and discounts during the months of June and July only.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to understand and follow simple oral and/or written instructions
- Ability to work outside in various climates
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., frequently
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Functions and Duties
Essential Functions and Duties:
- Digs with shovels, spreads and levels sand, soil, gravel, and similar materials.
- Helps to install/remove park furnishings such as play equipment, fences, benches, garbage cans, etc.
- Assists in concrete pours and installing formwork for sidewalks and slabs.
- Prime and paint various interior and exterior surfaces of park buildings and furnishings.
- Pressure wash buildings and facilities.
- Help with installation of drainage pipe and catch basins.
- Plant, feed, and water grass seed, sod, and plants.
- Lifts and carries heavy objects including 80 pound sacks of concrete mix.
Secondary Job Duties:
- Picks up litter, brush, and limbs.
- Loads and unloads trucks and trailers of equipment and supplies.
