Position Overview:

The Associate Director of Development plays a critical role in the growth of our fundraising efforts that works collaboratively and strategically to advance the mission of the organization. This key position reports directly to the Director of Development and is primarily responsible for identifying and securing new sources of support, increasing our corporate partnerships, securing new cause relating marketing programs, and building the committee for our annual Gala and other signature events. This position creates and oversees donor and recognition benefits and develops relationships with key funding partners. The incumbent will be highly motivated with a drive to surpass individual and departmental financial targets.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

Resource Management and Partnership Development:

  • Build passion and excitement for the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of San Leandro among current and prospective donors and partners.
  • Maintain and manage a portfolio of corporate donors and partners, including conducting regular in person/virtual meetings and other communications.
  • Develop and manage a prospect pool to identify and cultivate new leads, and design and implement strategies to attract new donors, support major gift efforts, and to build a robust donor pipeline.
  • Write proposals and create supplementary materials as necessary.
  • Develop and manage a caseload of approximately 100-150 individual donor relationships or active fund lines ranging from level 1-3 donor profile.
Strategic and Event Planning:
  • Work closely with the Director of Development, Marketing, and Event Manager on all aspects of the Annual Gala raising $250,000 including building the project plan and timeline, recruiting new committee members, securing a corporate honoree, executing a silent and live auction, pre-securing gifts for the fund-a-need, and other efforts.
  • With the DoD, oversee donor strategy for special initiatives and events such as annual fundraisers, community and donor events to achieve maximum success.
  • Secures funding that aligns with organizational mission and programs to avoid administrative burden or under utilization of resources due to narrow scope of use.
  • Collaborate with DoD to establish best practices in a multi-level donor strategy
Relationships:
  • Steward giving relationships with current and new corporate partners to generate and motivate enthusiasm and support for BGCSL's programs.
  • Serve as BGCSL's liaison with volunteer and affinity groups
  • Participate in networking opportunities to broaden BGCSL's scope of engagement
  • Serve as a resource and support for the Board, BGCSL leadership, donor community and staff
Data Management and Analytics:
  • Support implementation of CRM
  • Track and report solicitation and fundraising progress.
  • Analyze results of programs and efforts to make informed goals, plans and adjustments to best utilize resources and improve subsequent efforts.
  • Maintain database records and e-files with all donor transactions and related development material.
Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree with at least five years of experience in Development, fundraising, special events, working with corporate partners for a nonprofit organization, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated success in creating individual and sustained relationships that result in contributions.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Ability to multitask and manage several projects and events at once
  • Proficient with measuring and achieving income goals
  • MS Office Word and Excel
  • Ability to research, identify, and predict/influence outcomes of new fund resources
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and remain flexible with competing priorities
  • Ability to analyze donor's charitable and economic interests and their alignment with the mission

  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment may vary, light to moderate.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 25 pounds.
